  • What is counseling?
Counseling / Psychotherapy can be described as a practice of helping people navigate through their emotional and mental well being issues by providing a safe and non-judgmental space to them. It is a collaborative process which involves the therapist and client building a genuine therapeutic relationship, understanding the client’s concerns, setting goals and discussing and implementing the treatment process. It focuses on equipping the client with resources to understand and help themselves better.
  • How do I book a session?
You can click on the “Book a session” button and you will be directed to a google form. After filling the form you will receive an email with the session charges and a calendar link. After you have made the payment and booked a slot according to your convenience you will receive a confirmation email with a consent form and an intake form. Payment to be made - 48 hours prior to the session or else the slot will be given to someone else.
  • How many sessions will I need?
Every client and their healing journeys are different. As counselors we cannot give guarantees that an ‘x’ amount of sessions will be enough for a client. However, we do recommend clients to take at least 3 sessions to get comfortable with the counselor and the process of therapy.
  • What kind of issues should I seek counselling for?
Counseling can be beneficial for various issues, and there are no set rules for seeking it. Consider counselling if you're experiencing significant life changes, transitions, or challenges that affect your everyday functioning. Additionally, seek counselling if you want to gain better self-understanding, cope with emotions, or improve your overall well-being.
  • What if I don’t feel comfortable with the therapist?
We as therapists and counselors understand that we may not be a fit or the right one for every client. Similarly it is okay for clients to not feel compatible or comfortable with the therapist. A client can express their concerns and the therapist can either make some changes and see it works for them or can help them with some referrals of other qualified mental health professionals.
  • Can I make payments in installments?
Yes, you can make the payment in 2 installments if you have opted for any session packages. A structure for this can be mutually discussed and fixed with the therapist.
  • Do you offer a sliding scale?
Currently we do not offer a sliding scale.
  • Will the sessions be confidential?
Confidentiality is one of the strongest pillars of ethics in counseling and we take it very seriously. Whatever you share with the counselor stays in the session and is not shared without your consent. The confidentiality is compromised only in situations when there is risk of self-harm, harm to others or child abuse.
  • Cancellation & Rescheduling Session Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please send a WhatsApp message on +91 7304084515 or email to guidinglightshelp@gmail.com at least 6-8 hours in advance. Clients are allowed to cancel or reschedule a session only once at the last minute. Following that failure to inform prior to our session will unfortunately mean that the session has been taken and you will have to pay and book another session. If the client is late for the session for more than 15 minutes, without informing the psychologist, then it will be considered as no-show and the session will be counted as taken. If due to a certain emergency the psychologist needs to reschedule the appointment then the client will not be charged for that.
